Wow I just got my custom built new Quad Core Q6600 SLI PC with a GTX 8800, 4 GB DDR2 RAM just in time to play this awesome game. I got the system with XP installed but I also got a Vista DVD. I'm going to compare the game first running under DX 9 and then see how much better it looks with DX 10.
Well the 4 gig of ram is a total waste in xp as you can only use around 3 gig total memory in a 32 bit system.
That includes sound card memory graphics memory and system memory.
To get full use of all that ram you need Vista 64

How to check for your DirectX version:
Go to start and in the search box, type in "dxdiag" (without the "" marks) and press enter.
You should get this screen:
As you can see, the last bit of information says that I run DirectX 10.
Your bitterness, I will dispel

Why are there 20 post in a thread asking if you can run DX10 on anything other than 8800 and ATI 2k series. Its kinda funny...
