From what I remember of online play, good players would get over 700,000 points at Lighthouse, and the records are about 1.4 million (see last link below). Most used the VW Golf GTI, a front wheel drive car, which technically isn't drifting, since the steering and power is applied at the front tires which aren't sliding, just the otherwise useless rear tires going along for the ride. Front wheel drive cars are not allowed in Formula D drift racing, which is the name on all the banners in U2's stadium drifts.
Anyway, typical U2 drifting was done in slow motion, focusing on angle instead, with stability control on to slow things down even more. This didn't look anything like Carbon, which rewards speed much more so than U2 did.
Here's a link to a video of 400K drift at Capilano, the shortest downhill drift track, using a Corsa, another front wheel drive car similar to the GTI. The driver is KrystaGG. He is going faster than most U2 drifters did, speeds range from 80kph (50mph) to 120kph (75mph)
LinkFor comparason sake, link to a video of a great canyon drift by Tifo at Gold Valley run, from Carbon, where speeds go up to 322kph (200mph). Tifo and others have scored even more on later runs, but I don't have videos of these. I changed the music on Tifo's video (bad language on original, plus this music worked better with the video):
LinkI don't have any U2 drift videos that I made, only a few from Carbon. Here's a link to one in the Viper at Fortuna Heights (there's a fast cop cruiser, good for a lot more points, but I haven't figured out how to get the fast one in game).
Here's a link to KrystaGG's records, he got over 1.4 million points at LightHouse with the Golf. My guess is since the Corsa was EU version only, it wasn't used for these records, even though there's a "mod" to run either the USA or EU version of U2.
