If you already killed her or him your quest log will be updated, and if it hasnt then i dont thik you have killed her or him.

I believe he means the Kajiit Hand-to-Hand master J'Ghasta in Bruma. You probably haven't killed him yet; he is a bit tough to find. At first it seems like he isn't home. Explore downstairs a bit and underneath the staircase you will find a secret trapdoor hidden by some cloth. That is where he is. By the way, he can kill you with his fists, so watch out. As a side note, the travelling merchant is a Destruction magic master named Alval Ulani. Yes, you do get his schedule.
