the AVP game crashed NOT because of the trainer itself, but because the AVP game SCANNED itself to look for modifications and then crashed itself if it detected modifications to it's code (i.e a trainer in place). there were 77 or more such triggers and they went off at certain 'events' like killing the main alien or opening a door, etc. i am sorry but i refuse to play the game all 3 campaigns start to finish to try and relocate 77 triggers (plus they kept adding more each patch). good luck finding a trainer that works for the game that doesn't require you to use a cracked .exe with it.
with that said, its possible blizzard will incorporate some sort of checks of it's exe, since many games do this now. this could affect how quickly we get a trainer out or cause problems for us. however, the beta showed no such anti-trainer code in it.
we dont' support MP hacks and our trainers weren't designed or created to be used in MP gameplay so i hope the developers won't screw things up for legit SP trainer users.

regarding cheats vs. trainers, i doubt the cheat codes will allow some of the things our trainers will allow. and sometimes the instant build cheats affect the enemy as well, so the trainer would be better for such things, as well as super damage, telporting units, and sapping the enemy resources, etc.
best, Cal

IIRC, Blizzard uses the Warden program to monitor it's code and if StarCraft 2 is going to use the same style that WoW works on, you're most likely going to be screwed. Warden works pretty much the same way, if you don't respond to the Warden check request, you usually get kicked off the game within 2-5 minutes.

Warden in the SP word...
I would go with trainers. only becasue like cal said cheat codes effect the computer to. where The sc2 beta trainer alot of the main functions were player only.

It's simple , if you are an ultimate member use trainer if you are not use cheats.

They do use it in the original StarCraft but only for Battle.net (which isn't too much of a problem since that area is multiplayer only). But it seems that they want to make so that you must log into StarCraft 2 to play the game. Though clients can build in the stuff to bypass it, it usually changes every update and it's a royal pain in the ass to reprogram the Warden handler in chat bots:

i prefer CH trainers to cheats. CH trainers sort of blend into the game instead of forcing their way in which is y they work smoothly nearly all of the time. i'm hoping this game is easy to train.

What i would like to see is Unlimited resources and Unlimited population. Rest things are not for me important. I just hope trainer will not cause bann on battle net, since Blizzard doesnt like much cheating and dont care if its mp or sp.
