Why the hell do you need all that to "take advantage of vista?!" I have 6800 GT, AMD 3800+ and 4gigs of XMS2 RAM (all in all cost me about $400.) and as we all know vista is available free :|
Im running vista fine, if you mean take advantage as in "Run DX10" then yes you would need the 8800 however seeing as Company of Heroes is the only DX10 fully fledged game availabl right now im not too bothered.
I still love XP very much, it feels more "clean" but vista is an extremely viable operating system

Wow, you guys know your stuff. I have not had a chance to use or buy Vista yet. Well actually we tested it out at work, but I have not had a chance to get in there and try it under the circumstances I will most likely use it for. Right now I am getting some good arguments here from both sides on whether to buy or not.... Hmmm something to consider I suppose. 🤔
