Ya it sucks cause PS3 is a load of money and not wprth it if you have an Xbox 360.

There will be three versions of the game, last I heard two are for the PS3 and the other is a mobile phone game.

It is impossible to tell if it will be better. I would assume thirteen will have it's own battle style, like twelve did. I suggest taking the old method of playing the game on someone else's PS3 (if you know anyone with one) and then making your choice.
There are other great RPG games on the PS2, see if you can find any of these games: Link.
I only have Disgaea2 from that list, but it is one of the best single player games I've played (200+ hours and I'm still addicted, also I have yet to complete everything the game has to offer), just don't get put of by the graphics.
