on my fire red i completed the kanto dex and i beat the elite four the first time and the second time. so i was wondering if i should start a file on my emerald version or just keep playing my fire red

Well you can play Emerald and Fire Red.

Start emmerald it's better.

I recommend you go on to your emerald version as you have already done the main bit on fire red and emerald will be a new experence and lets face it you arn't going to be playing fire red for ever so you might as well get on to emerald now.
