if you have already edited the swkotor file then then the ~ typing area will not appear. it is just how it works out. you have to hit ~ , pray you didn't type the code incorrectly and hit enter. there will be no sounds or anything to say whether the code worked or not, but play and you will find out. if its an item code or stat set code check the inventory or the stats screen to see if it worked.
