now that I have beaten the basic game and started the legend difficulty can I loadup immortal throne and play that now.

You could have played imortal throne from the start.
You can definitly play Imortal throne now because (as you probably know)you can import characters from the original titan quest in the choice of renaming them...
You know what that means, you can have Tons and Tons of your acccount on Imortal throne, all you have to do is rename them!
