well i have set the game on easy and even the weakest armor has a good defense and the weakest weapon has good damage so....you don't realy need very good weapons and armors

The best weapons are goldbrand and umbra, whitch are relatet with shrine quests, goldbrand is a revard and umbra is needed to complete a shrine quest. If you have the knights of the nine the best weapon will be the mehures razor or something like that quest revard it is a dagger that has a chance to turn your enemy into fruit or something like that, and the best armor woud be the divine crusader armor that you get by completing the Knights of the Nine quest
