"I'm referring to contradicting quotes such as 'turn the other cheek' and 'an eye for an eye'"

I've heard of "turn the other cheek" but not "an eye for an eye." I wikipedia'd it and found the bible verse. (yes I'm going to quote from the Bible, shut up.)

Exodus 21: 23-27 (not exact quote)
"But if injury ensues, you shall give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. When a man strikes a male or female slave in the eye and destroys the use of the eye, he shall let the slave go free in compensation for the eye."

I don't find the quotes contradicting. "Turn the other cheek" is a rule for the target of the persecution. "An eye for an eye" is a rule for the one who hands it out.

I was agreeing to magiki who said the church quotes from the bible, no one said anything about anyone here quoting. Maybe you should read more carefully.

I could argue that Christians ARE the church. Second of all, you're stereotyping, and not for the first time. My pastor gives few quotes. Those are used as revisitable summaries of a valid point he already made. Third, any quotes given in ministering to you guys usually comes after, "oh yeah? Where's it written?" Fourth, if this is "getting even," note that I said to listen to your OWN [sides'... shoulda put that earlier] posts, so this is in no way a witty comeback. LASTLY, science works both ways...

You could argue that, but there'd be no point as thats not what I mean.
By 'church' I mean The highest officials such as the Pope, cardinals, arch bishops etc.
Wtf am I stereotyping? i never said your pastor quotes and contradicts himself, and I never said they all do.
I'm referring to contradicting quotes such as "turn the other cheek" and "an eye for an eye"
You're pretty hostile for a christian you know, chill out, god loves you.

Stereotyping-taking the general mental image and using it in that form. I should have said generalizing. I was using the pastor thing to prove that not all use quotes. Yes, I'm an agressive debater. And may I remind you that there's a specific time for peace AND war? That's in there. Btw, Quan, I know--Mod. Still, that's hipocrisy. If I recall, his job is to STOP this kind of thing...Of course, no one DARE challenge a mod... *understands I'm in hot water*

Remember--Ephesians mentions no "back plate" in the the Armor of God. Don't run away.

    "To ES
I've never heard of "The Root Of All Evil" so I have no reply."

That's because it was never aired in the US. Your country is very backward in some ways, such as in the ideas of liberty of free speech etc.

I agree, however I'm going to have to read the stuff so I can deem any parts inappropriate that are...

In any case, here's a new question to those supporting religion:

If religion (esp. Christianity) is such a holy thing, how come many of the religious leaders break their own laws?

Because their human...humans can become corrupted and make mistakes. Simple...

No my children the darkness of satan has blinded you! They are humans and make mistakes but jesus still loves them! He is the savior! Embrace his loving arms! HE HAS FREED YOU FROM YOUR SINS! WHEN HE WAS ON THE CROSS HE WAS THINKING OF YOU!!!

Oh, and if you don't love him back HE SHALL SUMMON YOU TO HELL, A FIERY PIT OF PAIN FOR ALL ETERNITY

I think you need help pal...and if I were you I wouldn't mock God. That's like tieing a noose around your own head...anyways, you can believe whatever you want...I'm firm in my beliefs. Jacks

The point of that silly post was to show you this, jesus loves all. Correct? But if you don't love him back...he throws you into hell for all eternity?

So if I ask a girl at school if she loves me, and she says no...would it be ok for me to burn her alive?

God gave us all a gift; the gift of free will. He knew that we would only be happy if we chose him on our own, and not through "hey you, I made you. You're mine, under MY control." This is because he loves us and understands our minds. We're made in his image, so he should know. This way, we can be happy, and still be free, serving gratefully(have you ever seen a Christian being a Christian reluctantly? Have you ever seen one say, "I'm only here because I'l go to hell otherwise?" It gives most a sense of purpose if they SERIOUSLY mean what they said when they said they'd be Christian... which is why we don't become Christian "just in case..." It'll lack that purpose and fail and make a new atheist.) without resenting him. As for hell, he DID warn us. Or, should I say, you. Well, me too, but I listened. He loves us, and doesn't want us to go to hell, but it's the only way to be happy in freedom as we are. See? It all works out. It's not pretty, but ignorance, or worse, the intentional avoidence of accepting the truth, always HAD has it's consequences. And you're making yourself sound gay. Really gay. "What is comedy? Comedy is the art of making people laugh without making them puke." Steve Martin said that (hell if I know who he is...I just have a quote book.)and I suggest you take his advice. As for the Root of All Evil, should it be posted if we don't know what it is and also can't? Just a little thought.
One more thing--a new point that isn't on the defensive. Tell me this. You make it obvious that you disagree with Christianity. That's fine(well that's not what I meant but you know) but if Christianity IS fake as you say, why did it come here to this world? Just give me your opinion, I'm not trying to say that it's true because it's here. I'm kind of confused on how you fight this battle, and other than the fact you think our religion is a lie, how you view it as wrong, fake, or a scam. 😵

I've got a question for all those who are afraid of hell:

If you are supposed to burn and be tortured for eternity, don't you think you would get used to it after, I don't know, 100 years? Maybe more? Maybe even less?

Or, if we're following what Satan wants us to do (disobey God), wouldn't he reward us in hell?
I mean, others have told me that Lucifer (the fallen angel, a.k.a. Satan) was sent to hell to burn for eternity and therefore when we get there he wants the same for us. Well, why would he want that? I mean, he's in a constant war with God, so why would he torture his "followers?" His "army" persay... Personally if I believed in God and Satan, I think Satan would have quite a few more people down on his side...but that's just my opinion.

Also, in heaven: If God gave us free will, why then in heaven does he want us to worship him? Contradictory?

I'd love to hear something on these subjects from the religious folk.
