Just wondering if there's any chance that I could upgrade from the normal edition to black edition? With some cheat, patch or something.

here is the answer for your question over MSN,

At the top of this webpage you should see the option, 'homepage, game wallpapers...' in that line there is the Authers option, click that...

At the bottom of the page there should be an, 'Apply' option, u should be able to go from there.

Dudes!!! you can change it to black edition easily! just go to the cheat page (using either netscape or firefox) and download the trainer that says, "Optimize graphics engine for better game performance. Manage player profiles (delete, import, export, repair, add cash, add bounty). Create player profiles (with standard cars, bonus cars, fun cars such as trucks and taxis, and cop cars) and unlock any/all tuning parts and set your own cash/bounty amount. Includes a trainer with options such as unlimited nitro/speedbreaker, big jump/fly, super brakes, extra speed/warp, never busted, spin left/right 90 degrees. Available in 10 languages."

trust me, it works.
here are the instructions:
1. download it.
2. unzip it 2 da deasktop.
3. choose "english" after u open it.
4. click on the black edition patch.
5. click on "activate be"

Now yo game is the black edition version.

and somebody is asking do the BMW M3GTR can be upgraded.The answer is it can but just a wheels and color and a tatto,and on the black edition patch have a BMW M3GTR street to upgrade the same things and it have a diferent look
