I am not very sure but i think that someone gives you a pokemon that carries a letter and you have to deliver it to someone else.So, if you find him maybe you see what those letters do.

the piont of the unknown is just to catch them. go north of goldenrod and talk to the guy behind the counter in the building (im srry, but i dont know how to make it any clearer than that!) and he'll ask u to make a delivery for him. then go to the guy sleeping by the berry tree outside of dark cave and give him the letter. that guy will give u nightmare.

They are called unknown. in the ruins of alph ther are puzzle to do & unknown writing on the wall. do the puzzle & more unknowns will be unlocked, follow the instructions on the wall (e.g.-if they say 'escape' then use an escape rope or dig, go back into the puzzle chamber & there will be a hole in the wall, go through it & there will be 4 good items, once you get all the items go to the back of the room & down the hole, the unknowns will have written summin on the floor.
