well that was where i was about (if talking about elder wurm) but I didn't have that much of a problem. and yes the battle system is great for FFXII.

I love final fantasy games, Sasuke from Naruto and yeah i have Exenosaga 3 and i'm getting Final Fantasy XII.I made hokage on naruto ultimate ninja so you can ask questions if youd like ill help. now i'm gonna dance (dances)(finds bazooka blows up school)haha

It's far from horrible, I personally prefer the turn based system, but this way is pretty good too!

lol i just started his game i got it for christmas im at the 3rd hunt i finished the rogue tomato andthextera now im lvl 4 with my new black magick!!!

I didn't like the battle system at first but now that I have it mostly figured out, its grown on me. And about the elder wyrm, I just finished him. Honestly, he was time consuming, but not hard. I am on a lower level than most of you and it only took one try. This game is not only about strength but strategy. You have to go into every fight differently.
