I have a question regarding GTA Vice Stories for PSP platform: When your mission is to go to Starfis

I have a question regarding GTA Vice Stories for PSP platform:

When your mission is to go to Starfish Island...and fight off the bad guys and save Mary.... How is this done?

I fought off the bad guys but... Mary died. So I failed.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
