Battle Battle Battle. Try not to die or use to many Items. If you must use an Item, Use an Elixer or X-Potion. ALso, Unless you are battle monsters that you MUST use magic to defeat, then avoid using magic or Limits until the last battle.
    Let's Assume I'm always right

First you need to acquire about 70-100 GP (If you can beat the 8 battles each time, more GP is better, it is possible to get the Omnislash with about 30, but BP [Battle points] can vary).

Your accessory and materia should be set to protect against status effects, I recommend a Ribbon as an accessory and/ or Added effect + Transform materia in your armour.

    Equip a Mime materia.

Equip an Enemy skill materia that has Big guard (manipulate Pugs on beach), White Wind (Manipulate green and white monster out side of Junon [I forgot the name]) and Beta (Midgar Zolom [Sand serpent near chocobo farm])
White wind will heal your HP and status, Big Guard will cast Haste, Protect and Shell, Beta will win you the first 5 or so battles very quickly.

If you have a second added effect, combine it with Hades or Odin in your weapon (best used with slash-all).

Once you've done all the above, save and enter the battle arena (the rest of the materia and equipment is up to you).

In the first few fights you can just use Beta and Mime to get through the first 4 or so fights, once you reach the fifth fight you should use Big Guard and either start attacking normally or continue using Beta with mime (depending on what you're fighting).

The handicap reel can be slowed down by pressing square, note that you will get more BP with a greater handicap, I recommend trying to get the Transform effects (mini and frog) as they will give you a fair amount of BP and actually wont effect you.

and a great way to get your points up is to roll the wheel and select breaks. Weapon and Armor Break work well, but the best is All Materia Break. True, it may put you at a major disadvantage, your point will skyrocket.

also, a note on Mime, if your character uses Limit Breaker, their nbext turn (if they didn't use Counterattack) use it and it will happen again...
they say you shouldn't kick someone when they're down... but what do you do when they're down and swiping you at the ankles?
