nope. in some boss battles he can appear if u die. mostly the very important battles against organization members or the battles against world bosses. if u die the first time u'll be asked if u think everythings over or if u'll try again. then u can control mickey and fight with him until sora is restored. then mickey disappears and soras in again. very good gimmick. if u die a 2nd time ur chance is 50 % and then 25% every other time u die what shouldnt happen ^^
