unlimited membership, that means that they pay a small amount for the right to get custom avatars, and use all the other special features given to unl. members and authors.
moderators are assigned by the founders of the site, if you ask to become one, that more or less puts you out of the running. Noted that the chances are very slim even if you never did ask. moderators are like really hot hot sauce in a way, a little dab will do ya, so there's no need to have hundreds of them floating around.
