i need help on the ammo drop mission. the one were wen u go in a guard tank shoots at u. i cant get very far away before i die how do i do it

Help!! I just got the Jak 2 game and I'm already having problems. Sad huh? Anyway, I can't seem to get into the pumping station. The dang door won't open. Is there something I'm missing or special I am supposed to do?
