can u install the sims1 and the sims2 both in your pc at the same time cuz i wanna install the sims 1 and all the EP

I have recently had a weird thing happen to my Sims 2 game... i made a family(husband and wife) and moved them into a house. while in that house they had two kids. the house they were living in was too small, so i moved them to a more accomidating space. the next time i opened up the game, the family was totally changed. they had the same names, but they looked totally different! the kids also had grown up, and their house was all changed around! the mom had also gone and had affairs with some of the neighboring women. i dont know what has caused this, but i was just wondering if maybe you have heard of such a thing, or if you have any idea what to do? Thanks so much!
