Game freezes on trainer activation can be caused by AV blocking the dll injection. Which antivirus do you have?
I have Bit-Defender Total Security. I allowed the folder, .exe's and .dlls through the AV's systems, even through the advanced threat and firewall, all folders, sub-folders everything excluded tried even turning it all the off.
Still freezes, Even tried the old trainer, and the different versions. Same thing. Freezes at the main menu, or in game. No difference.
There's nothing in the debug when it happens either, and the AV doesn't flag anything. I can't even see anything in my event viewer.
Never had a game do this in 10 + years. Just odd that it happens with this one game and nothing else.
Just did the Dying Light The Beast, Metal Gear Solid Delta, Both of the Last of Us games with Aurora. All the trainers work perfectly fine.
But like I said, It's fine, I've more or less given up on playing it anyways. I just wasn't having fun with it.

Once I had McAfee and even though I made myself a nice shiny exclusions list it still interfered with my work and trainers, turning it off did nothing and all of my issues went away when I uninstalled it, the AVs come with kernel drivers and you can never really turn them off, they'll keep running idle in the background and block anything suspicious.
This trainer comes with our DLL Helper Framework which gets injected into the game on trainer activation and when AV blocks the dll this is exactly what happens, try uninstalling your AV and see if it helps but make sure to disable windows defender too.

Yeah, I'm not going to do that, I use it for everything. Besides Every other trainer works perfectly fine. So either something changed in the trainer for this specific game from the millions of others on here, or it's this specific game with this specific AV or something else entirely..
And I've used this AV for close to 10 years, I know how to configure it inside and out. Never had a problem with it, or with any of your trainers, even before Aurora was out. So there's nothing wrong with it.
Whichever problem it is, that's fine. The game is already gone anyways, got my money back.

I already explained you in details about why you're experiencing this with this trainer and why it happens and based on my experience for +15 years as a trainer programmer I know what I'm talking about.
This trainer comes with our helper framework dll which gets injected into the game and your AV blocks the dll so game crashes and freezes, even if you turn off your AV and white list the aurora the AV will keep running in the background so basically you can never turn off your AV completely and most of the time under certain circumstances white list is ignored.
Either way as you wish, of course.

Trainer works great, though I'm wondering if I'm suffering a Mandela effect moment. Wasn't there a option to edit currency? "Faith"?
Not that I can see in the option lists. So most likely you would have to request it.
Please use the trainer option request system for requesting new options be added to this trainer and/or vote on options already requested.
