inventory editor seems to be off and on for me. it worked the first time, but subsequent tries after and it just refuses to work, it sometimes if i tab in and out will then select the correct item and show it as 1 or whatever amount i have, but when i edit the number no change happens afterwards. no matter how many times i tab in/out or re-select/change the number

Then I would suggest make a report to this can be checked out. Trainer might not be up to date as there has been game updates after latest trainer update.
Please use the update notification system to report a game patch, update or to report that the trainer may not be working with the latest version of the game. If 3 or more reports have been filed, consider BOOSTING the priority of this title for a faster turnaround on the updated trainer.

It works fine unless you share your save game so I could reproduce otherwise can't help you and your update request will be rejected.

What does the trainer log say?
What are the steps to replicate this issue?
Does your game version match the trainer version?
Are there any special instructions that need to be followed?
if the Instructions say to place a launcher in the game files have you replaced the launcher file?
Are you running Aurora as admin? Not doing that can cause issues for a lot of trainers.
Did you extract Aurora as opposed to just running it?
Have you reinstalled/verified the game files?
Have you restarted your computer before trying the trainer again?
Have you set the anti-virus exclusions for Aurora?
Are you running the newest version of Aurora?
Have you followed the readme instructions?
Are you opening the game from a supported launcher?
Are you running the newest version of the trainer?
Are you playing a beta version of the game?
Are you using mods?
Could you provide a save file?
Are you able to get the error message/issue on a new save?

It works just fine if you follow the instructions properly.
The "one hit kill" doesn't work on the guy who has the spears on his back and is throwing spear at you.
Could you provide a save game close to where this guy is and an update request.
We do need the save game so we can look at this.
