You must be doing something wrong. It sounds like you keep trying everything while the game is running. Like I said earlier you should open Aurora only, outside of the game. And then you should do what i did in the video, then close Aurora. Then, as shown in the video, every time you open the trainer it will automatically skip all the distribution choice pages for you.
I have also tried doing it without Dreamlight Valley running and it doesn’t give me the option of Don’t Ask Again, just GamePass and Steam and then showing the trainers when I pick Steam.
When I kept retrying multiple times, it finally gave me the Don’t Ask Again once and I selected it but it still shows the same Steam/GamePass screen without the Don’t Ask Again option so it didn’t save the option I guess (even though I clicked and verified it).
Edit - after a lot of tinkering and restarting the game constantly, I was finally able to get Aurora to accept Don’t Ask Again (when it finally showed) and it now goes to the trainer but when the trainer activates, I can’t click on anything in it to work (due to the game being full screen). Not sure how to bypass this since I use a keyboard and mouse with my Deck and while the mouse cursor moves around, clicking does nothing (same with the Steam Deck controls themselves).

Edit 2 - after tinkering with the game for ages (restarting a lot), I finally got the trainer to work with it and everything is all good. Sorry for all the inconvenience it caused and I appreciate the help; not sure why it wouldn’t work from the beginning.

Is there a way in the future for the website to let us know which game's trainers are verified and work on the Steamdeck? Unless its more or less new stuff released can never tell if the trainer is compatible with certain games. Maybe an icon like the Steam,Epic,Winwdows Store Icons or something or a green check for Steam Deck availability? Just suggestions nothing I am pushing at. Just so it makes the site and trainers more intuitive or accessible. Having to jump on Steam Deck forum on a game rather than the trainer page itself is a little bit of a navigation trial, especially checking things on mobile device and not the PC.
Any trainer that is on Aurora should work on the steam deck, if a trainer requires a file placed into the game files chances are the file won't work
