Well, considering that they've been doing this for over twenty years I think it's safe to say that CH will be around for a while. Just like Steam. Originally people were afraid that Steam would go belly up and we'd all lose all of our games. Yet here it is, today, going stronger than ever.
We may not get the entire hundred years of Lifetime Plus, but we're sure to get a significant value for our purchase. The break even point is about 2.5 years in the future. I'd say we'll easily make that.
Let's also not forget what our purchases are going towards. The more people who subscribe the more money they make and the longer that they can be around.

So going to be super honest here. I myself paid full price for the lifetime membership and I felt like it was worth the value all day long. I flipped and flopped on getting it for months before I just bit the bullet and got it. That being said I have been on and off about the PLUS membership while I like the idea of supporting the site and wouldn't even mind a few ads to offset a bit. I don't see a HUGE benefit to it at the moment.
One huge thing I REALLY want to see but is unlikely due to the way the OS works is a functioning version of Aurora for the Steam Deck I would gladly drop a monthly sub for something like that. However I understand with the way the OS works that might be a huge task with not much reward. I am looking forward to see what you have on the table for functions for PLUS and see if they might be of interest. Another note I like the mobile phone functions of Aurora but its not practical in a public environment like a Hotel, Starbucks, so on just because of the security of firewalls.
That being said I would consider a monthly for access to that feature using a cloud service so I could get around public issues so long as both devices call home to CH. Just food for thought! Thanks for the read.
We TRIED to create Aurora for Steam Deck. NOT POSSIBLE NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME WE PUT INTO IT.
Also, the new mobile app will work if you VPN to your own network while away from home, but both your mobile device and PC must be on the same network.
Here are the current advantages of Lifetime PLUS: Link. If you see no value in it, then simply don't upgrade. No biggie. We have TONS of others that have and continue to add many more every day.

“1. Games/Trainers that have been updated/patched more than 20 times will NO LONGER require a LIFETIME membership in order to access. However, they will NOT be available for individual sale at this time. This may change at a later date. We are still testing the individual trainer sales.
2. Monthly subscribers will no longer have a 5 title/month limit on trainer access. Monthly users will be able to download trainers no different than other membership levels.”
These changes are BIG as they add more value to the monthly/yearly premium subscriptions. With (global) inflation affecting all of us and many living paycheck to paycheck, purchasing a LIFETIME (or LIFETIME+) is out of reach for many members.
I also must agree with @B4Marc, once you have the changes worked out and settled, this deserves a “flashy” announcement. Something on the order of a banner placed on the CH front page highlighting the value-added changes.
As @PWizard well stated, the LIFETIME subscription doesn’t financially benefit CH, it’s geared toward “us”, the users to save money. It speaks volumes of their business model compared to others.

Thanks @GJ! We're currently sending an email blast to a small portion of our member base (250K subscribers) to let them know about the changes and will slowly send additional emails until we hopefully reach all of our subscribed members.
But I agree, something big at the top of the site might just be needed.... hmm
