The trainer is working for the most part, but the editor seems to be shared with every thing/one. Tried to lock my hp value and try killing a big nasty, but its hp was locked also. Silver works though haha

For Breakthrough Points, I am not entirely sure which field it would show up in. I've gone to a trainer, opened up the training menu(attachment below)and then gone into the trainer editor to look for any value that would match what I have spent.
There is nothing in the editor that I can see corresponds to the breakthrough points.

The "breakthrough points" aren't tied to anything online/multiplayer are they? (Sorry, I know nothing about the game and it may not even HAVE an online mode). Just checking.

No, the game doesn't have any sort of dedicated servers. As far as I know everything is tied P2P. There is a mod for the regular edition of Outward that allowed you to reset your Breakthrough Points. But obviously it won't work for the Definitive Edition(yet)

You can edit the save file to reset breakthrough points. In \steamapps\common\Outward\Outward_Defed\SaveGames find your save game. Open the Char0.defedc in 7-zip and mark the Char0 file in the archive and press F4 to open it with the default editor (notepad). Look for the XML element UsedBreakthroughCount, set it to 0 to have all 3 breakthrough points available again.
Also important, restart the game before loading the edited save. Otherwise the change will not hit due to the game having the save cached in memory.

Posting that there is failure happening for the Steam version as well. When pressing F1 at the main menu getting the "Failed" error from Aurora ---------------------
