Everytime I activate the trainer and hit esc or go into my inventory of the game, it crashes. How can I fix this?

Try to run Aurora as admin then launch the game, don't activate the trainer until you can walk around.

Be aware though that the game got a patch a few days ago which might also be the cause..

While I'm glad the trainer got updated so quickly as the request was sent, but the same issue is still there...

And what issue might that be?

Well, before the trainer was updated, the game would crash whenever a menu was opened, excluding the main menu. I tried both existing and new saves, but it doesn't seem to discriminate. I also attempted to activate the trainer during different occasions such as before I load an existing save or making a new save, after loading an existing save or making a new save, during a cutscene, after the tutorial, etc.

When those didn't work, I verified the files and reattempted the same actions prior which yielded similar results. This lead me to uninstall the game, double checked for leftover files, and reinstalling. Once more, same attempts, same crash. To be extra sure it wasn't anything else, I played the game for awhile without using the trainer, and it turned out fine.

I submitted a request, which so happens to be the third and final one required, and waited patiently for the update. I was pleasently surprised when the trainer got updated so fast and launched the game only to meet the same results as before; open any menu and crashing.

I do not know if it is only on my end or something persisting.
