I am reading the Horus Heresy books now. Really good series and not bad to get from the black library. My only complaint about the series is the writing direction of the different authors. Some authors really focus on the combat, while others focus on the world, while some focus on character development. Overall I like the series. I recommend it to anyone new or experienced to 40k.

The books are amazing. Though the sheer amount of them can be daunting on knowing where to start. The Eisenhorn and Gaunts ghost series are big hits within the community and offer different perspectives than what you normally get in regards to space marine novels.

Inquisitors series by Dan Abnett (Eisenhorn, Ravenor, Bequin) are really well written. Very interesting. Not many space marines but tough ones!
