I'm not being sarcastic and have not bad mouthed the thing at all. I merely stated our experience with other Valve products such as the doomed Steam Link that we ran out and bought 4 of (out of probably 5 sold nationwide). Now that I have the device I can attest to the legitimacy of the hype this time around. It's a nice device and definitely has plenty of potential. We have made Linux trainers before that no one cared about or used and so we also went off of those stats with my previous comments regarding Valve products. We will do our best to hack this new Steam Deck that very few people actually have at this point and make CoSMOS and Aurora (with CoSMOS already built into it) run and also hack into another running game on the OS, which will likely be the largest challenge. We will know more next week when our programmers get ahold of the gadget and start poking around with it. Also, please note that we are NOT in any kind of race or competition with other cheat/trainers sites on who can make theirs work first, etc. If they do then they likely have a lot more time on their hands than we do. Our core business remains making PC trainers and improving Aurora/CoSMOS for our Windows user base and we will not let this device become a distraction from that.

My mistake I assumed these were negative remarks. I read the hardware specs, preordered one and followed it's development/modding post launch but thought I made a horrible mistake after seeing your comments below....I'm very relieved that appears to not be the case.

"We have no idea what the OS will look like, if anyone is even going to buy the silly thing (Steam Link, anyone? anyone?)"

"Ever tried playing an RTS game like Total War on a handheld device? Um yeh, not happening"

"you can forget running any kind of elaborate PC game on it"

"Don't let pre-order numbers and hype fool you. Any big company can make any upcoming product seem like the best thing since sliced bread

"we are now the proud owners of one Steam Deck which is literally the size of my TV and weighs almost as much"

Never quote me. They are always out of context.

yes thank you for that =) but i Was refurring to the more personal point of view type of viewpoint about it and what its all about n such but thank you for the reply though =)

hours later...=) ive learned elsewhere from others that a steam-deck is just basicly a new kind of console? is this really what everyone (more than just on here) are all talking about? a console basicly? i know hardware wise its not that simple but the concept sounds just like any other console. if some has a minute sometime please PM me the detail im sure im missing that makes it unique thanks =)

It's a hand held linux PC that acts like a console but has the option to drop into a full desktop environment. Not sure how much more there is to explain about it? If you can't piece it together from there, I'm sorry.

Anyways. I'm hype for when I finally actually get my deck, I'm on the preorder waitlist still. And hyped that it means the CH crew might stop treating Linux like a red headed step child. lol I can't seem to get past the SSL handshake issue for Aurora, but if I can then I should be fine connecting that into the same wine instance as the game. I currently do that with memory editors to manually change some stuff. But damn do I miss just being able to hit a hot key and applying a cheat.

We already have 3 Steam Decks and I can assure you that it will not be that easy unfortunately, however we do have SOMETHING in the works. More info soon.

Also, FYI, we made multiple native Linux game trainers a little while back and no one downloaded them or seemed to care so we stopped. If we thought the world would use them and not just 1 or 2 people, then we would invest more time into it.

That's fair. It's more the windows software you put out that has dependencies that refuse to run in WINE that's been the issue. Most of the games I run are win executables. And I just run them through wine/proton. I don't really want to drop names of software here unless you want to PM me, but I have had plenty of luck with "trainers" built for win in linux for games running with the proton compat layer that I ran through Lutris. I'm not talking out my ass here, I've used cheats for Elden ring in Linux and that's a new game. Both were Win executables. By all means I can walk you through exactly how I did it too; just don't want to drop the software name here for obv reasons but don't mind sharing it directly with devs.

I would also suspect one of the biggest reasons people didn't bother with the trainers you built is because no one was looking for them, and TBH the ven diagram of people who game on linux who also pay for trainers is likely VERY small, at least until the deck is in more peoples hands. I'm fully aware I'm in a very small minority here. But yeah, theres very very VERY few of us. And the ones of us there are didn't think to look. I know I didn't even check; every time I looked for a game it wasn't there so I just stopped looking.

I'm in the CH discord too, same name if you want to DM me there or anything too. I'm no genius but I'm more than willing to share what I have found through tinkering.

I was mostly referring to the Steam Deck (SteamOS) in particular in regards to compatibility. We have tested all the "other" trainers as well and they all suffer from the same issues as ours on that platform (as of this writing, that we know of). On plain Linux I'm sure you can do all kinds of things with Windows executables. On the Steam Deck you can also drop a microSD card into it and dual-boot right into Windows if you want and then use all the trainers you want, so there ARE options but we are looking at something native so that users don't have to jump through too many hoops to make it work, especially risking a dual boot situation and bricking the whole thing. Thanks for your input though and especially the offer to share you knowledge with us via Discord. Will definitely keep you in mind should we decide to go down the Linux path again with Aurora. Might be easier being on a single platform versus tons of single trainers to make and maintain indefinitely for users that bought a Lifetime subscription specifically for Linux trainer X.
