From what it seems to me the trainer works just fine with 1.3.6.
Here's my suggestion: the devs here are getting annoyed with this games updating. They have options to deal with that if needed however, what I'm suggesting that we gamers go into the steam settings for the game and swap it to only update on running and then once we know there is an update only launch the title in offline mode to prevent potential breakages. Then the devs here can take a measured updating action to prevent them having to use the full pause or retirement options.
Offline is a great idea but from what I experienced, update on running doesn't "prevent" the update. The way steam works is such that once an update for the game has been detected (while your steam is online), the game will need to be updated before it can be run again, regardless of which update option is chosen. That's to say, even after switching to offline mode, steam will still ask for the game to be updated first before it can be run if the game was flagged for an update before you went offline.
As such, we have to set to offline mode before any update is put out by the devs. Exceptions are those drm free type of games such as FTL that we can directly run the exe from the folder without steam. That's why I keep my steam offline most of the time and if I need to use steam functions, I use their mobile app or through the website.
