I added credits, played, now I tried to log into the game and the profile knocks out on the game loading screen. it doesn't seem to work quite right..
On the other account, everything is surprisingly fine, the previous one died dead. F

yep buddy exact same issue here (DO NOT USE THE MONEY FUNCTION WILL GET SHADOW BANNED) I took over 12 hours with support agents and online research to try to fix this problem but to no prevail.
So from my experiences so far, after adding credits(999m) and turning off the cheat, do a race so your rank goes back to whatever rank you was. after that i was able to load up the game fine, still had my money, still able to play online. all i did was edit money, i dont plan on using the other options but if you do use it, your risk of getting ban skyrockets even more than so keep that in mind. THERE IS STILL A RISK NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO AS YOUR CHEATING!
May I know does your stats for fast travel boards, bonus boards, Barns find etc, all become 999m as well after you added the credits?
