All options working for me now since the update. Hope its the same for the others who were having issues. Thanks all!

Is crafting working for you guys? The option shows up as available but holding R to craft does nothing. It says I have 999999 parts but when I exhaust my parts held it doesn't allow me to craft more.

Yeah, I can confirm that crafting doesn't work but it still shows the right number.

Do this when getting and using an updated trainer if you have not rebooted in between usage.

How to clean previous stored trainer data. Delete the folders listed or make your own batch file to clean them for you.

Trainer was working quite nicely (hull/plating/shield)... Then I bought a new ship. On the new ship, hitting shield option (3) depletes the shield. swaping back to an old save with the old ship it works.

Is it possible the function is ship specific or hits the wrong area if you buy a new ship?

Unsure, please post a save game and instructions to repeat an path to where it goes. If you are further in the game than Caliber got making the trainer he may need a save to have a look at it.
