I started the game through Aurora I started the game with ubiusoft connect and both times I was able to activate the trainer without a crash.

The trainer has been used almost 22k times, and you are the only one that is reporting crashes, so my guess is that the issue is on your end.
Maybe your games files are corrupt? or something is trying to block Aurora?
Try installing the game on your main drive and running Aurora as admin. make sure the folder of Aurora is excluded to any Antivirus / windows defender etc.
as mentioned earlier - it is a fresh install (game files were verified).

other folks on here with the same issues, likely being ignored also.

that sounds like a normal Ubisoft game to me
