I was eyeing Civ6 and wonder if now is a good time to buy it. I was thinking about perhaps waiting for the price to drop even more.

50 bucks for everything, minus the new season pass, is well worth it, for a game that will give you 100's if not 1000's of hours worth

I would agree with you since "Civilization 6 GATHERING STORM" is included in the Platinum Edition 🙂

But I'm still wondering if "Civilization 6 Trainer 1.0.2.39 505793 (DX11+12) GATHERING STORM" would be working for all the other packs or DLCs as well, or is it specific to this particular extension?

Alas, it appears steam might have learned a thing or two. Not figured out an exploit way to gain lots of 5$ credits for this seasonal sale. Doubt the Spiffing Brit will post one after the fact either as he probably doesn't want to lose another account or two.
