Does anyone know if this rockstar launcher has some kinda of cheat detection built in? I know it runs as a windows service (which gives me a sneaking suspicion it does)
I'd like to tinker around with the memory editor a bit and throw myself some cash and such, but i do not want to get banned foolishly rushing in to do that before I learn the facts.

You will get banned if you try do it in online mode. For story mode, i am sure there is no cheat detection as I couldn't find any anti cheat application running. Even if they introduce one later on, you can circumvent it by killing your wifi/internet after launching the rockstar launcher and before launching the game.
Ok so I am sniffin around a bit and it looks like... if you put "-scofflineonly" in the games launcher parameters you can edit the games memory effectively.
This forces the game into offline only mode.
nice! I will check it out. Thanks
For people crashing using the launcher, try this. Taken from the R* site.
Run RDR2.exe as an administrator
Open the Rockstar Games Launcher
Select Settings
Select Red Dead Redemption 2 under My installed games
Select Open under View Installation Folder
Right-Click on RDR2
Select Properties
Under the Compatibility Tab
Select Run this Program as an Administrator and Disable Full Screen Optimization
Click OK
Return to the Games Menu in the Rockstar Games Launcher
Launch the game
You also gotta run the launcher as admin before hand. Switching the game to Windowed Full-screen eliminates a lot of lag.

I did as you wrote but I still have problems, I get this warning: Unable to start RDR2.exe due to lack of privilege on the folder, Remove any compatibility settings or try to run as administrator.
So I don't know what to do,
I'll have to uninstall everything, I installed the game on HDD, I also have the SSD disk but I'm afraid I don't have enough space to install it.
🙁
