I'm using the 64bit version of the Trainer Manager, it was working fine for a while until my game collection wallop.

I know that if I delete a bunch of less used trainers from the trainer folder then it will run "fast" normal speed again.

Is there a way to improve the Trainer Manager so it can keep a long list of trainers and have it refresh quickly after any trainer update?

The same issue also affects the search results, since it also uses the left side column to show the game trainers results.

I'm using a SSD, just in case. At first I thought it was due the slow read speed from a regular HDD, but that was not it, same issue remains after I moved CH and Trainer Manager to the SSD.

I did already try the Troubleshooting tips in "How to reset or fix Trainer Manager Prbs" www.cheathappens.com/show_board2.asp?headID=138080&titleID=13673

How many trainers are we talking about here? I liken this to steam in some ways, in that I/we literally own 2000 steam games. I cannot have them all installed, for obvious reasons, but I also note that it's a memory and resource and CPU hog when I have 100 games installed and it's checking things sometimes.

Perhaps there could be ways to make it faster, but unfortunately I've had to program it to be compatible with 9 different versions of our old trainers, as well as compatible with other trainers to an extent.

We may code a completely new TM in the future once the new site launches. For now, I am not sure what to say other than maybe a separate folder for trainers for games you are not even playing or don't have installed, and use the settings to better suit what you are trying to do or to better handle a large number of trainers.

best,
cal

You can also right click on the trainer box art and choose ARCHIVE TRAINER. This will keep the trainer in your list but it won't be checked for updates.

Good idea, I'll try that, that should improve loading speed.

@Caliber
Yes, I do have a huge collection of games, but usually I only play like 10+ of them actively at any given month.

It goes in phases, I keep rotating between old games and new games, so PWizard suggestion to archive the less used trainers should do the trick.

Thanks.

No dice.
Archiving didn't do anything, other than flagging the trainer with a little lock.
It doesn't remove it from view/count.

So, to make Trainer Manager actually usable again, I just had to delete a whole lot of trainers I've not used in a while (400+), keeping only a small bunch of games I've been playing in the last couple of months (20+ trainers), that loads up quickly.

Again, this is the best suggestion for now. We may update the TM when the new site launches to try and have it work differently.

I explained the reason it's slow.

best,
