Gears 5 Message Board  

As we've seen with the Technical Beta they've released for Gears 5, they're using EAC which is always on from booting the game.

Does this mean that we won't see a trainer for the single player portion of this game as we have for Vermintide 2?

Currently it is 55% funded which is peaking my interest.

All EAC implementations are different. We won't know until the game is out and we can look at it directly.

Well this is bad news to hear. However, most implementations of EAC we have been able to get the game to launch offline without it. I assume this game will have a player versus player component or leaderboards or some good reason to mess up a perfectly good game series by adding this operating system hijacking software to the game.

Windows Store games are already a pain to deal with as they are. Adding this may make things much worse, especially since games for Windows Store launch in protected folders and whatnot.

The game will have cross platform multiplayer with consoles (Xbox One and Xbox One X), which I'm certain is actually always enabled without an opt-in/opt-out function; this is the only reason I would ever see them adding such an intrusive AC.

The game is also releasing on Steam, which utilizes the Xbox LIVE DRM, but I assume the game installation will not be encrypted in the Steam installation.

getting "Error on attaching to process: Gears5, reason: Access is denied" for the Gamepass version with Cosmos Advanced v5.1.5 running as administrator.

Cosmos cannot attach to an EAC protected process.

we likely will have a trainer for this after prelim looking at it.

however I am fighting the fact that I live in US and can only launch the game internittently as windows store sucks and is preventing me from launching the game even with VPN and changing regions, etc.

you just may have to wait until very late tonight US time before we put out anything.

but it looks hopeful from my prelim work

I did read if change your region to new Zealand you can play it now. Oh god ignore my post I overlooked u tried this aleady
