Windows Media Player is required otherwise you don't hear any sound, yes. For Text to speech the Windows text to speech runtime must have been installed. However newer trainers don't have this feature anymore since it is no longer official supported by Microsoft.

i know, i saw your post in another thread saying you need windows media player. I didn't think this was a problem because it was showing I already had it. So i tried reinstalling it without much hope it'd work but, it did.
Also the netcore 3.1 link in the Trainer Requirements thread wasn't giving me the sdk when i checked for it using cmd or in the apps and features search.
perhaps post this link there as well just in case: dotnet.microsoft.com/download/dotnet-core/thank-you/sdk-3.1.300-windows-x64-installer
Thanks

The SDK of .NET Core is only needed for development. What end users need is the RUNTIME version (SDK includes the runtime). But we're aware of the link Microsoft provided redirects to the wrong download page. We've reported this problem and waiting for them to fix it.
But after all this back and forth I'm glad you solved it yourself 🙂
