I just started this game and find it impossible to win the races to move the game forward with a key

I just started this game and find it impossible to win the races to move the game forward with a keyboard. Is there a timer freeze console command that anyone has discovered? I am at the point where the sheriff wants me to make these deliveries and there are no more jobs to do. Help!

I play on the highest hardcore level and have no luck to win the races.
