In a relatively last-minute business decision (game releases in less than a month), Deep Silver has made the announcement that Metro Exodus will be removed from sale on Steam and will become an Epic Store exclusive. Those who pre-purchased the game on Steam will have it on Steam, but no further sales will be made on the platform after today.

This raises the question: will those of us who have pre-purchased and will be playing on Steam have trainer support? Or will a trainer only be developed for the new Epic Store version?

This is kind of an unprecedented situation for a big AAA game to accept pre-orders for months on one platform, then decide days away from release that it's switching to another platform. Hopefully we can have trainers for both versions, since this will undoubtedly split the player base.

    Okay so:
A: It will be on steam from launch for pre-orderers
B: It leaves Epic Store Exclusivity in Februrary 2020

It sucks, but this stuff was bound to happen. Epic has been snatching up and making titles exclusive, timed or otherwise, as a major push back against monoplatform domination on PC. Agree with it or not, it's a thing. Both Steam and EGS versions will exist, be updated, and be completely normal from launch. One platform just won't be able to be purchased for 365 days. It's like the console wars are happening again. But that ended up with most console exclusive games going to other platforms and few one console only titles.

And it's going to be on steam for people that have pre-ordered it still. That isn't changing.
It's coming back Feb 2020, and that's directly from the devs on twitter.

Regarding the question whether a steam trainer is possible. Epic store version is usually identical with steam version as far as we can tell by the handful of games which have been released on EPIC store yet. So it's likely that a trainer will be compatible.

I say it might be best to go via epic store for the game instead. For safe side in case it dose not line up. Thats how I would go. Up to Wiz n Cal how to procced on this. Cause for me mine will be purchased via Epic as I canie afford to get from steam.

As far as I know Caliber has already purchased the game on steam. In this case Steam owners definitely got support and EPIC users will be supported too (I believe the trainer will be work on both anyway. But depending on the popularity, we might purchase the game twice like we already did many times before).

This may be just the beginning, too. If reports online are accurate, Valve was getting 30% and now that Epic is offering an 88-12 split and other companies are selling their own games and making their own launchers, Valve is offering a sliding scale going from 70-30 to 75-25 and 80-20 as a game sells more units.

That could cause headaches for CH down the road.
