is not only atrocious, but inhumane; to both the gamers & anyone
they get ordered to shoot on sight.
imagine the PTSD young gamers in this day & age will endure,
they'd quickly commit suicide before they can resort to video games
as a coping mechanism after what they witness & endure in the battlefield.
FPS gamers are NOT soldiers...and even if they had the fortitude
& nerves to remain calm under pressure in the field, they clearly
don't have a snowball's chance in hell to survive a real-life firefight.
"The US Army is hoping that esports, of all things, will encourage more young Americans to consider a career in the armed forces."
I don't know if they are really thinking this will be successful. Maybe the applications will rise 1%-3%, if all? I've been playing FPS my entire life since I like the competition and the fact that you actually have to come up with a strategy to succeed. But I'm strictly against war, violence and all that. Every human being should have the right to live in peace and harmony.
I've just briefly read the article but I didn't find anything regarding the game(s) they want to compete in. If they want to give people a "realistic" view about the army, they should play Red Orchestra, Squad, or something like that und not the common ones like Call of Duty or Battlefield.
Best regards!
