No idea, never got there or used it. Probably hss to do with this game mechanic.
The blacksmith working at the workshop is unique in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey in that he can upgrade engravings of the Eagle Bearer’s weapons and armor. Engravings have to be leveled up to five by completing the challenges related to that engraving. After the fifth level, the engravings can be upgraded another five times at this blacksmith.

Oh, I've been there already.
There should be a way to get the game to recognise the trainer-set gold value as the actual gold value, so that upgrading the engravings to the max is actually doable.
What about the easy upgrade options?
• Free Blacksmith Upgrades
• Free Blacksmith Engraves
• Unlock All Engraves

Good idea. I'll activate all three of those, and see what I can learn from that blacksmith.

Well, I think it was Unlock All Engraves that did the trick. It auto-learns the max you can get from that forge.
What I'm having trouble with now, though, is with Add Ability Points. Even though I have a free ability point, it's not adding to them any number I pick. I've tried to add 500, 250, 50, none of them are adding, despite exiting and re-entering the abilities screen, or exiting any menu. It is the Steam and Uplay one I have, not Uplay+.

You need to be in the ability screen first then activate it, then either tab to a different screen and go back to it or just spend a point after activating, the value should update, was working for me when I tried it using Steam version.
I don't think that function wants to work for me at all. Using both those methods, hotkeys on and off (I had to alt-tab from the game while in the Ability tab for off), nothing that should've happened, happened. It was as if I'd never picked the option. And it's not as if I didn't use reasonable values, I picked 625 first, then just plain old 25 (the default value) later.

Clean out any older trainer data that may be still in the working directories and try it again.
Delete trainer and all files in
C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\Cheathappens\Work
C:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Cheat Happens\0x90
C:\ProgramData\CheatHappens

Reboot PC to clear excess memory, get a fresh copy of latest trainer and extract it. Run trainer as admin, read the instructions and try again. At times, a new game may be needed to resolve failed options if the data in your save file was altered. Use on a new game and test the option. If it now works, quit to main menu and load your save and try it again. May also need to run the game without the trainer first and play a bit so the save file gets updated to use possible new values.
