Wait a minute. Does the editor still work for you guys?
Ever since the Lunastra update a couple of days ago, both the trainer and the editor cause my game to crash. The trainer immediately in the main menu, the editor once the game loads me into Astera. *confused*
yes the editor works. you have to go out, on any sort of mission/investigation or just anything, but you can not, and i repeat, you can not be in Astoria or the Research area (town type places) or it will crash you. once you are in a mission, you can use the editor as directed, or go into the tent and use it. Just make sure you close it (as in completely close it out) prior to leaving the mission after you are finished doing what you want to do.
If i were you, I would do what you need, get what you need now, because my gut tells me that the trainer may be short lived here, in conjunction with some other tools, i have found the item ID's upcoming DLC items and have already given them to myself in game.. what this means is, i may or may not have to pay for the DLC, if it is released that way that is, for example I have the Behemoth armor set, and the gamma armor for kirin, Vaal Hazak and a few others. the graphics aren't in the game yet for some, so cant wear them or it will crash the game but they are in my inventory ready to go, but others are so I am able to use gamma armor. Again, IDK if the next DLC is going to be paid or not, behemoth and gamma sets but if CAPCOM opened up a line to them, you can sure bet that its serious business, and losing money is not something AAA companies like to do...

Thank you for the explanation, ew2thomas. It is much apppreciated. 🙂
As to DLC and Capcoms plans, I am honestly unsure. So far, from all I have gathered, it seems they are only taking action against PC trainers/editors/some mods, namely ones that unlock DLC outfits for the Handler without needing to buy them, but are leaving the long-standing console savegame editors alone for some reason. The whole situation is puzzling to me, to be perfectly frank.
But all in all, I share your sentinment. I, too, fear that CH will ultimately take down the support for MHW, even if only to be on the safe side should Capcom later decide to take deliberate legal action against perceived offenders instead of politely asking for the removal of the tools.
I hope I will be proven wrong, of course, and that support for MHW is here to stay, but normally, the party with the most resources for possible legal disputes wins such situations in my experience.
That said, I am sure CH will make the right decision in the end for their business.
