I tried those steps too - I keep getting the unknown version issue. I had wondered if it had anything to do with my HTC Vive, but I disconnected it (and my extra monitors), but still no joy - almost all attempts end with the error 0142 and unknown file version. I'm using Norton antivirus, but it's been put to sleep for this testing, unless there's a setting in there that I haven't actually put to sleep for this.

Hopefully this will help anyone still having problems starting the trainer. First I double click the trainer and do not press F1. Then I start Far Cry 5 and shut down the game once I reach the main menu. I Then press F1 and play normally.

Confirmed working. I didn't test every option, but health, stamina, no reload and ammo all work without issue.

I hadn't tried leaving the trainer running yet not activated approach. It had been closed each time before I began my next attempt. Sadly, it didn't work for me. I got the Unknown file version C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\FarCry5\bin\fc_m64dll error again.

oh well, had a sparkle of hope for a minute there.

Working for me now as well. After hours of trying to get it to work with Steam, multiple monitors, Windows Defender, etc, I finally took another approach. I had originally pre-ordered it on Steam but saw so many folks having success with the Uplay version specifically. So I submitted a refund request to Steam (approved in less than an hour since I was under the 14 day purchase as well as less than 2 hours of gameplay) and then grabbed it on Uplay. Now it's working like a charm! I can't guarantee that it wasn't another tweak I tried that didn't help, but it is working flawlessly for me now so I'd recommend trying the refund on Steam option if like me you were running into the .dll issue many have reported. Thanks CH for another awesome trainer!!

I had the same problem, what worked for me before running the trainer, ad an exception in windows defender, paused Kaspersky and killed all uplay processes via Taskmanager. After that it worked without a hitch even though I had multiple monitoirs, odd install dir and uplay in online mode
