there seems to be no inventory of orbs..

It also seems the orbs for the mana sword just happen when you kill specific beasts?

i think so, as i killed something in the water palace cave to the right of the palace,and received the orb,maybe a stat/item editor is possible. and as afew have posted about a much faster skill charge and always being able to stay at 100% in the bar,or a perma sprint aswell, along with fast weapon/magic leveling

yes and no... you can eventually collect a 9th orb from the final dungeon if you grind the hell out of it as a random drop.

unfortunately it is only in the final dungeon that you see those random weapon orbs begin to drop and I am not sure if it can go above 9.

I am not far into the new game, but I played the hell out of the original.

The game features a "weapon orb" system

Weapon Orbs are earned after defeating bosses and from hidden treasure chests scattered through the land. The game has 8 orbs for each of the weapons that you can have that it gives to you*. The game additionally has a 9th orb for every weapon except for the sword (more on this later) that can be earned through an extremely rare treasure drop from the game's final dungeon from specific enemies.

Weapons are levels up through the game's blacksmith named Watts. You find him in Gaia's Naval which is early in your main quest. He will travel with you as you progress through the story. He works basically like a shop where you give him money and he will upgrade weapons that have an orb.

The exception to this is the 9th Orb for the Sword. It contains spoilers so read at your own risk.

In the classic game, there were two ways to check if you had a weapon orb:
1. In the Weapon and Magic skill menu, it will display Current Level / Weapon Orbs Total. If the Weapon Orbs Total was higher, you had an orb to upgrade at Watts.

2. Go to Watts and weapons available to upgrade with an orb will be shown.

guys.. YOU are playing the game.. you can see it takes time to progress and do things and find orbs, etc.

also, not every game is a joke to reverse and find the best ways to make options, where data for the enemy, buddies, etc. all run through the same functions.

with that said, the trainer will be posted soon. It's complete and I tried to incorporate many options people requested..

also best i can tell, we are the only source of a trainer right now, in fact probably the only source for a trainer this complete.
