Many people wonder what the meaning of life is... but in the end the better question is what is the meaning of death?

I think it's to clean away the old to allow for the new.

    What do you think?

It depends on what meaning you're inquiring about; personal or general.

Generally, death is the ceasing of old and worn in order to clear way and resources for the emerging.

Personally, you'll never find a clear answer because each person is going to take something different from it. Whats more is that death isn't this instantaneous thing. It is typically a slow and gradual process taking many years to complete.

We are, all of us, dying. From the moment we're conceived we begin to die. Philosophically we're constantly dying because we're never who we were before. Before seeing this post I was one person, after another, and another still once I began to reply.

I maintain the general opinion that death gives meaning to life and, in that, is death's meaning; to impart significance and urgency.

I would argue that this assumes that anything is permanent when nothing is; especially if one looks at the matter through science which says that our contained energy and matter will simply be transformed into other things.

Spiritually, perhaps the point of life is to know death so that when it comes for us, it is less a terror and more the meeting of an old friend. We watch pets and family die, experience the death of relationships and moments. We know these solitary pains so that we might know further joy before ultimately melting into them ourselves through our own death.

It isn't clean like a math problem, but messy like emotion.

There is no such than as death. All matter is merely energy condensed to a slower vibration. Energy can not be destroyed. It can only be transmuted, transformed and transported. We are all one consciousness, experiencing it's self subjectively. Life is only a dream and we are the imagination of ourselves.
