    The Game released on GOG in its old normal way so unremastered, but made possible to run on for example windows 10, seems gog and gearbox worked together on that one 🙂
    the altered name seems to be that blizzard used cataclysm in its WOW games, so that's way its named emergence ( stupid name if you ask me). Funny thing though the executable still is called cataclysm.exe 😆

    some game running stuff in my case:

    The way it got the game running:
    I am on windows 10 64 bits and nvidia gtx980. monitor 2560 x1440 res
    with the latest nvidia drivers,
    Installed the game with the normal gog downloader so not using galaxy.
    After installation, run the game, went to options and video settings, i choosed default opengl 1600x1200 32 bits settings.
    Accept settings and OK. quit game , restart game, but the game appeared blurry, so i had to restore default settings in nvidia control panel, manage 3d settings , top right Restore defaults. also in nvidia control panel , adjust desktop size and position,scaling, set to full screen , and checkmark override the scaling mode set by games and programs
    Game doesn't look blurry then.

    To fix the widescreen problem (game appeared in middle of screen with two big black bars on the side) i used this settings in the game shortcut (gamepath for you may differ of course)

    E:\Homeworld Emergence\cataclysm.exe -noborder -triple -enable3DNow -enableSSE -disableavi -heap 1073741824

    run the game again and widescreen is working 1600x1200 res on a 2560x1440 monitor (maybe a bit stretched here and there but i didn't care so much about that.

    Also tried the registry settings to force game to 1920x1080 but that didn't work

    so in case you guys use opengl this is the way i got that game running very nicely.

    Some edit stuff:

    Download winbigw, extract cataclysm.big to a folder of choosing, extract from that archive: race-sect folder to the homeworld emergence folder, and two .script files named singleplayer.script and tweak.script

    in race-sect folder you see a lot .shp files which are used by the campaign for the default player (the mining mothership and all what it can build) those files can simple be edited with notepad++ as well as the two script files.

    also note the game uses update.big in which are some changed files and scripts which are also used in cataclysm.big (race-sect and tweak.script) so be sure you check those changed files and extract those to the race-sect in the game folder

    In singleplayer.script you see this setting SINGLEPLAYER_STARTINGRUS 750

    change to your liking for a lot RU

    for the SU you need to put those in the smothership.shp setting providesSU 70

    change the 70 to for example 1000

    also in those .shp files you can edit ship health ship speed, damage of weapons (damagemult) etcetera.

    be carefull with changing tweak.script, i used it to give the workers more healing capacity

    thats about it, of course you can also try to give yourself more RU and SU with Cosmos 🙂

    Looks like we got trainer aproval up just have to get the request filled. I donated about half the credits needed and we are up to 70%.

    Hi, thanks for the quick tutorial but I dont understand how to get the modified files back into the .BIG file.

    The creation of the race_sect folder with the modified file do not alter the game.

    Please advise.

    try it first with the srecon shp

    copy the srecon folder srecon.lod and srecon.shp from your extracted race_sect folder to race_sect folder in homeworld emergence folder. Edit the srecon.shp , for example a bit more health.

    example from my srecon.shp

    test game to see if the scout ship has more health.

    so no need to pack the edited content back into a .big file

    P.S sorry for the mistype in my earlier post race-sect must be race_sect so a underscore _

    About the tweak.script and singleplayer.script those 2 files go to the main homeworld emergence folder

    tweak script is handy to change the repair rate of the workers.

    example.

    The rate a ship of a specific class gets repaired by workers.
    twRepairRate CLASS_Mothership 3500 In health units per second. 0 means ship can't be repaired.
    twRepairRate CLASS_HeavyCruiser 3500
    twRepairRate CLASS_Carrier 3500
    twRepairRate CLASS_Destroyer 35 don't edit this to high , its needed in mission 2 to repair the destroyer but not to fast repair else mission script goes awry
    twRepairRate CLASS_Frigate 350
    twRepairRate CLASS_Corvette 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_Fighter 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_Resource 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_NonCombat 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_Composite 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_Component 0 DS See me if you want to change this. The repair rate for the ship the component is attached to is used.
    twRepairRate CLASS_Micro 300
    twRepairRate CLASS_MonsterShip 195

    note the low repair rate for the destroyer
