This will be my last input, but I wanted to say the following:
_I'm someone who's played HCOTW since it first came out, and have purchased all the DLCs (including the newest Yukon DLC,during which time the game DEVs chose to institute a new save game system. I can only think this new saved game system (not the newest DLC itself) has changed code somewhat to make two of the (most recent) CH trainer functions unworkable: SUper SPeed and Frz ANimals).
But after a lot of testing the last few days, here is what I did to make the newest CH trainer ALWAYS work FOR ME. And please keep in mind, I have ALL the DLCs,so this modus operandi MAY not work with another player's game if they DON'T have all the DLCs. I have no way of knowing.
In this order, here is what I've done (after testing other ways), and the trainer completely works for me:
I open the trainer. I run HCOTW (latest Steam version; all DLCs installed and activated including latest DLC;Yukon). I do NOT "CONTINUE" once the game runs. Instead, I select a reserve: the Fernando reserve (a somewhat new,but not terribly new, DLC). I always open with the Fernando reserve. I let everything load (players will understand what I mean) in the game. THEN I F1 so trainer runs. All options work each time.
Here's an addendum: THe FRZ Animals (PgDn) and SUPER Spd (PgUp) options will NOT work IF you hope on a vehicle FIRST. Do NOT use a vehicle.
Not yet, anyway: test the options first. Most of the time, even with older trainers, if you Frz ANimals while ON a vehicle, the vehicle freezes, as well (is the vehicle considered an animal?). Once you get the CH trainer options working, they'll work even if you AFTERWARDS mount a vehicle. So again:
Run trainer. Run game. Select Fernando reserve. Let everything load. F1 to activate trainer and test PgUp (to see if you can super speed) and PgDn (even if no animals are around, if this option freezes you in place the option doesn't work).
ONce I got my Fernando reserve running,F1 for trainer and see that those infamous Speed and Frzs options work, they'll NOW work for me no matter which reserve I load...until I close out the game.
THen next time,I start up the same way and everything is groovy.
NOW: will this workaround fix make those 2 CH trainer options work if I choose another option other than Fernando to start? Not sure, but those 2 options definitely WON'T work if I START with the newest (Yukon) DLC, OR if I simply CONTINUE the game. Hell if I know why this is, but it IS! Good luck.
