    I hope it's optional.

I don't need Windows disabling things it doesn't see as necessary. Anytime they do something gaming related it turns into a mess....I can see it disabling fan profiles, gaming keyboards and mice, and who knows what else.

Ha! Optional... You know like Cortana used to be. Microsoft is going the way of big brother - manufacturing incompatibilities to promote the use of their own products. I'll stop there while I still can.

AFAIK Cortana IS optional. You don't have to sign in using Microsoft account and you can even hide the Search button/field from taskbar. Now, move on.

Also: I'm pretty sure no one uses Windows 10 for gaming but its still nice how Microsoft is trying to fix a piece of junk operating system.

Disabling Cortana after the Anniversary Update requires knowledge of either the Registry (if you have the Home version) or the Group Policy Editor (if you have the Professional version). It cannot be fully disabled through conventional settings.
