The game does have the ability to toggle the network connection on/off. It's right in the options.

NMS Next isn't protected by VAC.

Just look at its store page. Compare with Counter Strike GO's store page to see.

You can also search the store for all VAC enabled games. NMS isn't on the list.

If the trainer won’t be updated (which I cannot understand why?) then there is a save game editor out there that actually works with NEXT.

Woah just slow down with all the rumors and let's just stick with the facts. NMS isn't on the VAC list. With 55 reports filed on CH at the time of this post I think it's safe to say their going to update the trainer, especially since it's on the trainer queue to do list. The guys at CH are on top of their game, if they knew the game was like The Division or something and knew it couldn't be trained then it would have been marked Red and PWizard would have let everyone know it's not possible anymore. Pump the brakes on the world's ending with the trainer thoughts.
