Legend of Eisenwald (Steam) launches and it even lets you use the hotkeys but as soon as any action occurs: combat encounter, enter town, etc it generates an exception and has to restart

Running civ 5 , dx 11 and this stops working , my computer is windows 10 ,64bit. I have to run it in dx9 , that works, is it the new update stopping the game or something else.
